Our latest Holy Land trip (March 2005) was, in many respects, our best trip yet, though every trip has been wonderful and rewarding in its own way. As always, our morning boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and such familiar sites as Capernaum, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Megiddo, Qumran, Masada, and the Dead Sea (and so much more) were wonderful. But among the unique highlights of this trip (for me, at least) were the baptisms of Barb Honchell and Don Kidd in the Jordan River, the frequent occasions to read (absorb, really) Psalm 48 while overlooking "the city of our God, the mountain of his holiness," the least-crowded visit we've ever made to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Calvary, more time than ever before in the Old City, prayer at the Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane, and a memorable meal at "The Armenian Tavern" restaurant near the Jaffa Gate. But with all that, the most bestest part was the great fellowship of a small group that really enjoyed each other's company.

And, since we're often asked, I'll mention that we never had a moment of fear or insecurity (never have). Israel is not the "war zone" you might

imagine from viewing network news and reading newspapers.

Wish you could have been there. Bet you wish that, too, don't you? You know you do.

Well, be of good cheer. In January 2010, we will return to the Holy Land for ten days. We'd love for you to go with us. You want to. You know you do (click here for an itinerary).

And, in March 2012, we plan to host a 10-day "Journeys of Paul Cruise" in Turkey and Greece aboard the ms Astoria (click here for an itinerary):

If you're interested in either of those trips, just let me know by emailing me, and I'll send you a

brochure for either or both of the trips (be sure to specify which trip(s) you’re interested in).

Sunrise (from our hotel in the town of Tiberias) over the Sea of Galilee. The impact of waking up to a scene like this, and then after breakfast boarding a boat at Tiberias to cross the sea to Capernaum is utterly indescribable.

The view here is from atop the natural amphitheater on the Mount of Beatitudes, looking down to the Sea of Galilee. It is easy here to visualize Jesus talking comfortably to thousands.

Barb Honchell (left) and the lovely Robin outside the house of Caiphas in Jerusalem. The steps they are standing on was the route Jesus and the eleven would have taken from the upper room to the Garden of Gethsemane…and back, after his arrest.

That’s Bob (left) on the teaching steps on the south side of the temple mount, one of the most authentic sites of the Holy Land. Jesus would have walked these steps, and sat on them to teach (John 8:2).
